So sorry for the delay in updating my blog! Somewhere between Vancouver's beautiful beaches and the charming British countryside, I just couldn't get myself to sit in front of a computer for very long. It also didn't help that I was without a proper internet connection for the majority of my trip... who knew you could actually survive without checking email for ten days! It's an extremely liberating experience for those of us who can't even make it through a dinner party without secretly checking our Blackberry.
On my flight back to New York, I re-read a book by Jean Godfrey-June (see post titled 'Free Gift With Purchase...') and was inspired to try one of her innovative beauty tricks as soon as I got home. In Free Gift With Purchase: My Improbable Career in Magazines and Makeup, Jean suggests to mix any two shades of lipstick you own to create an additional, perfectly flattering, shade.
Being on a bit of a post-vacation budget, I decided to combine the ends of my old lipstick tubes together to see what I could actually whip up within the confines of a Manhattan bathroom. Well, I've already created four new shades and I'm loving the results! Now, if only I'd been bright enough to write down my formulations...
Welcome back! I need my daily dose of BeautyMavrick, so I'm so happy you're home :)
That’s such a cool tip. What are your newest personal lipstick mixes??

Thanks love!
It's so good to be back :)
For one of my new shades (well, it's not really a crazy concoction but I love it), I mixed a discontinued Delux Beauty lipstick with a plumping lip balm in a cute tin to create a super natural, slightly plumping lip tint.
